Morten Abel – Et helt annet sted

Join us on this live-streamed concert with Morten Abel, through both new and familiar musical material. One day as Morten Abel is somewhere between the simple things, like the coffee mug and a chair, to the abstract, the colorful and the artistic. Inspired by Abels surroundings, director Eivind Holmboe will follow his performance through 12.000 square meters of colors, art exhibitions and dancers - this is where he spends his day. This concert can become partly physical, metaphorical and artistic - says Holmboe.

About the artist

Morten Abel is one of the most played songwriters on norwegian radio. With over 600.000 sold albums, he is acknowledged as an institution in the life of  norwegian music.

His love for language guided him at last back to his mother tongue and two soloalbums in Norwegian: “I fullt alvor” (In all seriousness) and “Evig din” (Forever yours). He toured with “Evig din” from Kristiansand to Hammerfest, and got amazing critique and reviews from the public.

He is now back in studio, to finnish off the album trilogy with norwegian lyrics. As a painter approaches an empty canvas, always looking for new ways to combine colors, lines, and forms, Morten Abel approaches his songwriting. With new sound images and structures in creating timeless pop songs. 

“They say one thrives best uphill, so when I don't have a mountaintop to climb, I have the tendency to create one myself. I want the third album to be different from the first two. It is important to me to always move on, and never repeat myself.” Abel says about his creative process. 

After four decades as a songwriter and an entertainer, Abel is still one of norway's best  intermediator. He never disappoints on stage. 

 

About the director

Eivind is a natural born storyteller; he loves to tell stories. He loves to solve new and challenging problems with the camera. Eivind believes in the soul of a story, and believes this soul is found when passionate people nurture the core idea. And admits that it can be exhausting and fabulous at the same time.

Eivind directes his first Made By production with Sondre Lerche in December 2020. Concert review a 6 in VG.
