Hattie Whitehead

Om strømmen

After releasing a string of critically acclaimed solo EPs and garnering wide attention for fronting Hejira (playing the works of Joni Mitchell), UK singer-songwriter Hattie Whitehead is set to release her debut album Bloom on 4th October 2024. Produced by John Reynolds (Sinead O'Connor), this record takes Hattie's unflinching honesty in songwriting and delves into existential themes of empowerment, family, womanhood and relationships with a tone of re-growth and optimism attributed to her journey through the grieving process after the loss of her mother in 2016. Overall Bloom is an album that follows a period of great personal pain but is ultimately a tale of personal growth, acceptance and empathy. In the same way The Anchoress The Art of Losing and Bernard Butler’s Good Grief were so vital in offering listeners an insight into the darker recesses of grief, Hattie Whitehead’s Bloom is equally needed to show there is light and life at the end and to ultimately to always be kind to yourself as a way out of the darkness.

Hattie will be celebrating the release of the album by playing a selection of songs from it for this live stream as a duo with multi-instrumentalist Loz Garratt. This is a rare opportunity to see these songs played in a stripped back, intimate setting - the environment the songs were born out of, in the space they were written: her home.
